Job Description:

This is an onsite position located in Champaign IL.

 

The Shop Mechanic would be responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and keeping up to date on DOT vehicle inspections. This role would work closely with the Fleet Manager and District Construction Manager to schedule repair and maintenance work around field needs. The Shop Mechanic works daily on company vehicles, directional drills, and various tools and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete all preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter changes, operational tests, wire and plug checks, etc
  • Repair equipment such as directional drills, trenchers, plows, air compressors, trailers, vans, trucks, etc
  • Work on equipment with air brakes
  • Perform DOT vehicle inspections alongside employee drivers
  • Schedule repair work with Fleet Manager and District Construction Manager to determine priorities
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner to prevent delays in field work
  • Pick up parts as needed for repairs and maintenance
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and read codes to determine issues

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years in a mechanic position
  • Previous work with construction equipment
  • Experience with 1 ton or heavier trucks
  • CDL Preferred
  • Flexible to travel
  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug test

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems
  • Time oriented and organized
  • Ability to keep a workspace clean
  • Knowledge of equipment with air brakes
  • Strong communication of issues and solutions
  • Welding or fabrication skills preferred

 

 

Physical Requirements: 

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation: 

  • Ability to lift 70+ pounds
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, bend, crawl, and move through a job site
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to be active for 10+ hours per day

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is: $24.00-$32.00/hr

 

Actual base pay for this job will depend on the candidate’s primary work location and other factors, such as relevant skills and experience. Pavlov Media is committed to complying with the Equal Pay Act and places a strong emphasis on internal equity when determining compensation. Final pay will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and alignment with our internal equity standards, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organization. The salary banding for this role also allows room for growth, with opportunities for pay increases within the band based on performance and contributions.
