The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician will assist in developing, updating, analyzing, and managing GIS data for Pavlov Media. This position will assist with various GIS analysis tasks, data development, as well as prepare GIS data for permitting and project status reporting. The GIS Technician will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver GIS data and services, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.

This is an onsite/hybrid position located in Champaign, IL. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist in network design and planning using GIS tools, supporting fiber optic network buildouts and expansions.
• Maintain and manage GIS databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and version control.
• Generate custom GIS analyses and reports for field engineers, permitting, and project managers.
• Develop and maintain web maps, dashboards, or mobile GIS applications for internal stakeholders.
• Provide GIS training or documentation for field personnel and non-GIS users as needed.
• Utilize SQL Server databases, MS Excel, deeds, field notes, and other sources to create GIS maps for field personnel and deliverables.
• Assist with digital feature extraction from multiple data sources.
• Assist in identifying GIS system needs and implementing improved workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or Computer Science with GIS coursework or experience required
• ESRI ArcGIS suite experience is required (ArcGIS Pro and Enterprise a plus).
• Experience with GIS data related to fiber optic, telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
• Basic proficiency in SQL and Python required.
• Experience with AutoCAD is a strong plus.
• OSP Design experience a strong plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is: $42,000-78,000

Actual base pay for this job will depend on the candidate’s primary work location and other factors, such as relevant skills and experience.
