The NOC intern is responsible for assisting with the planning and verification stages of MDU Construction/Deployment projects.

This position will require beginner knowledge of networking fundamentals and network device operating systems. Interns will learn Pavlov network design standards and practices, and inventory control/tracking to assist the NOC Deployment team with Pavlov deployment projects, as well as the principles and workflow of long-term customer support once networks are built.

Functional areas of this position include, but are not limited to:
Planning
•    Confirm equipment/drop counts.
•    Manifest and stage (configure) equipment, applications and/or systems.

Verification
•    Confirm configurations of all network equipment, applications and/or support products
•        Facilitate and confirm proper monitoring of all applicable network equipment. Keep Odoo ticketing system notes up to date.
•    Confirm the network is free from Layer 1-2 issues.

Support
Troubleshoot common end-user issues.
•    Identify hardware issues requiring physical repairs and logical issues requiring end-user education or configuration modification.

This position is a temporary, entry-level position with advancement opportunities available to skilled and highly motivated employees.

Primary Responsibilities:
•        Maintain a professional demeanor with internal and external resources while working to complete deployment projects.
•        Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Fiber Optic physical layer issues remotely to accurately determine if physical repairs are needed and communicate a precise and complete scope of work when a repair is required.
•    Troubleshoot OSI layers 1-2 on Pavlov networks in order to escalate network-impacting issues.
•    Maintain familiarity with products and services offered and supported customer networks, including standard firmware, standard designs, and any known issues with common hardware and firmware.
•    Manifest and stage (configure) network equipment.
Assist with special projects and work as directed as a member of a project team.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist break-fix team with post-deployment support of networks and end-user issues.
Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Fiber Optic physical layer issues remotely to accurately determine if physical repairs are needed and communicate a precise and complete scope of work when a repair is required.
Troubleshoot OSI layers 1-2 on Pavlov networks in order to escalate network-impacting issues.
Assist Fiber to the Home team in support of escalated end-user issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
•    Desired Certifications: Cisco CNA, CompTIA Network+, MikroTik CNA, Ruckus CNA, or other network-centric formal certification
Must have experience with the fundamental concepts of enterprise network design and network implementation with a variety of technologies.
Must have at least 1 semester formal education in networking.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift, up to, 30 pounds at times.

Desired Skills:

device issues.
•    Ability to work under aggressive deadlines and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines.
Communication skills to work with NOC Deployment staff members and Project Management.

•    Adaptable and participative in positive, continual changes in process or procedures.
•    Beginner fundamental understanding of OSI model layers 1-2
Beginners’ knowledge of routers, switches, Wi-Fi, fiber optics and other technical components used in networks.
•        Proficiency with Microsoft Windows (10 and 11), Macintosh, PC hardware and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
