Pavlov Media, one of the nation’s largest private providers of broadband services to multifamily real estate owners, announced today it has acquired the operating assets of Clarus Broadband headquartered in Austin, Texas. Clarus is a broadband provider serving home and business customers in the Austin area.
Mark Scifres, Chairman and CEO of Pavlov Media said “This latest addition to the Pavlov Media family expands upon our full fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) products and services in Texas which includes design, installation, operation and monetization of both private and municipal fiber-optic infrastructure.”
Glenn Meyer, Board Member and President of Pavlov Media’s MDU services group, also added “The addition of the Clarus team will help us continue to build depth in the multiple markets within Texas that we serve as well as leverage our existing municipal fiber networks into the additional communities served by the Clarus team. Dave has built a great team and we are grateful they will be joining Pavlov Media.”
David Daugherty, Chairman at Clarus, stated “Our business was expanding at such a rapid rate that it required us to find a fiber construction partner and an operations platform that could meet the high standards our owners have for designing, installing and maintaining the fiber-optic networks within their developments. Pavlov Media is the perfect organization for us to merge our operations into.”
Pavlov Media, one of the nation’s largest private providers of broadband services to student housing and multi-family real estate owners, today announced the acquisition of IPTV software provider Singularity.
Bloomington, Minn.-based Singularity provides an IPTV platform for operators in both the United States and abroad. The acquisition will enhance Pavlov Media’s continued efforts to deliver content to customers in the most efficient and meaningful way.
In today’s all digital world, the need for content continues to evolve.
“This acquisition is a step forward in providing consumers cutting edge exceptional media experiences,” said Pavlov Media CEO Mark Scifres. “Pavlov Media has constructed a high capacity national broadband network and the ability to create and deliver content that extends beyond traditional cable television service. The acquisition of Singularity now provides us a platform from which we can create and deliver an enhanced content package for our multi-family clients and for our single-family home subscribers.”
The move creates a partnership that aligns with Pavlov Media’s three-decade long commitment in delivering exceptional value and performance for property owners and customers.
“We have been growing rapidly and had been searching for the right partner to leverage this growth,” said Matt Ailts, CEO of Singularity. “Pavlov Media fit our requirements both from a commitment to quality of service and to the provision of resources to allow our team to take advantage of the many available opportunities in the market.”
Glenn Meyer, president of MDU services at Pavlov Media said, “We believe the Singularity platform will be well received by our student housing owners and their residents. This enables residents to stream content in high definition throughout their entire apartment community which enhances their broadband experience. With this acquisition, we now have the ability to create and broadcast unique content for our multi-family property owner clients.”
Pavlov Media is pleased to announce the addition of a new data center in Orlando, Fla. The new site expands 100 Gbps speeds from Orlando to Atlanta, Ga.
This expansion is just one of many Pavlov Media locations nationwide providing 100 Gigabit (100,000 Megabit per second) capability.
In the last few years, Pavlov Media added 100 Gbps capacity from Chicago to Champaign, Ill.; from Philadelphia to New York City; from Los Angeles to Phoenix; from Chicago, Ill. to Indianapolis; and from Indianapolis to Atlanta.
“We are excited to expand the options for high-speed and cost-effective global connectivity to Orlando and the surrounding area,” said Mark Scifres, CEO and Founder of Pavlov Media. “The combination of the high capacity data center ecosystem at Orlando and our growing national footprint offers additional choices for customers and reflects our commitment to providing simply exceptional connections to users around the country,” Scifres added.
The data center and 100 Gbps linkage to Pavlov Media’s national backbone allows much faster transport of content for end-users. Much of this content is peered—meaning Pavlov Media is directly connected via fiber to content providers.
With the recent World Health Organization report of 133,000 cases of the Coronavirus worldwide, and the Center for Disease Control’s report of 3,487 in the United States, Pavlov Media is pleased to help area students and teachers as education moves to online experiences.
Bandwidth to schools served by Pavlov Media is immediately increased to 10 Gigabit to help teachers, staff and students meet new demands in online education.
In addition, Pavlov Media currently provides 10 Gigabit of bandwidth to the University of Illinois but is increasing that immediately to 40 Gigabit at no extra cost to help faculty and students. The increase in bandwidth will be in place for the next six months.
“We are doing what we can onsite and offsite to provide protection from this virus,” said Pavlov Media CEO Mark Scifres. “We will continue to educate and update our customers and our team as new information unfolds.”
Average eLearning consumption per student should be no lower than 1 Megabit per second with ideal bandwidth starting at 3 Megabits per second. Below are recommended bandwidths for common eLearning applications.
